Scanning and diagnosis

Two services that answer the questions every builder asks before touching an existing slab: what's in there, and what's wrong with it?

Concrete scanning

Non-destructive scanning to locate tendons, reinforcement and embedded services before cutting, coring or drilling.

  • Tendon and reinforcement locations marked out
  • Safe zones for cores, cuts and fixings
  • Before new penetrations or fit-outs

Diagnosis

Investigation of cracking, deflection and other defects to identify the root cause and the right fix.

  • Cracking and deflection
  • Suspected tendon damage
  • Clear recommendations for repair

Why scan first?

A stressed tendon stores a large amount of energy. Cutting one can injure workers, damage the structure and lead to expensive repairs. Scanning first costs far less than repairing a cut tendon.

Scanning questions

Can't see yours? Ask us directly.

Why scan before coring a post-tensioned slab?

Tendons in a post-tensioned slab are under very high tension. Cutting one releases that energy suddenly, which is dangerous for anyone nearby and can weaken the slab. Scanning shows where the tendons are, so cores and cuts can be placed to miss them.

What can scanning find?

Scanning locates post-tensioning tendons, reinforcement and many embedded services such as conduits, so cuts, cores and fixings can be positioned to avoid them.
